Auction item management

Add auction items with photos, descriptions, starting bids, and bid increments. Set a close time per item or close the whole auction at once. Export the full bid history as CSV.

Mobile bidding

Guests place bids from their phones through the same platform they used to register. No app download required. Current high bid updates in real time.

Ticket tiers for tables and individuals

Sell General Admission, VIP, and Table of 10 within the same event. Each tier has its own price, capacity limit, and confirmation email.

Donation add-on at checkout

Add a donation step to the registration form. Supporters choose from preset amounts or enter their own. Donation funds go directly to your Stripe account alongside ticket revenue.

QR code check-in

Every registration includes a QR code. Scan guests at the door from any phone or tablet — no dedicated hardware needed. Works offline and syncs when back online.

Direct Stripe payouts

Ticket sales, auction proceeds, and donations go straight to your connected Stripe account. CompleteEvent does not hold funds. Payouts follow your Stripe schedule.

Standalone auction event

Run the auction as the event itself. Guests register for free entry and bid on items from their phones. Close bids at a set time and notify winners automatically.

Fundraising dinner with auction

Collect meal selection and dietary restrictions as custom fields at registration. Add auction items on the side. All revenue — tickets, bids, donations — flows to Stripe directly.

Charity auction walk

Participants register, pay an entry fee, and bid on items throughout the event. Track check-ins with QR codes. Export attendee list and bid results at the end.

How it works

  1. 1

Create your event and add auction items

Set ticket tiers, enable the donation add-on, and add auction items with photos, starting bids, and close times. Apply for the nonprofit discount at checkout. Takes about 15 minutes the first time.

  2. 2

    Open registration and bidding

Share your registration link. Guests register, pay, and get a confirmation with their QR code. The auction page goes live at the time you set — guests bid from their phones.

  3. 3

Check in guests and close the auction

Scan QR codes at the door. Close auction items at your scheduled time — winners are notified automatically. Export bid history and attendee data after the event.

Frequently asked questions

How does bidding work for guests?

After registering for the event, guests receive a link to the auction page. They can view all items and place bids from their phone without downloading an app. The current high bid updates in real time. When the auction closes, the high bidder on each item receives an email notification.

Can guests bid from their phones during the event?

Yes. The auction page is mobile-optimized. Guests browse items, place bids, and see outbid notifications on the same device they used to register. No separate app or kiosk required.

How do we close bids and notify winners?

You can set a close time per item, or close all items at once from the auction dashboard. When you close an item, the high bidder receives an automated email with the item name, winning bid amount, and payment instructions.

Where do auction proceeds go?

All auction payments go directly to your connected Stripe account. CompleteEvent does not hold or process funds on your behalf. Payouts follow your Stripe payout schedule — typically 2 business days for US accounts.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. The free plan lets you run an event with auction items. A 3% platform fee applies on the free plan. On paid plans (Starter at $15.20/mo or Pro at $39.20/mo with nonprofit discount), there are no per-ticket fees. Stripe processing (typically 2.9% + $0.30) applies on all plans.

How does the nonprofit discount work?

Nonprofits and 501(c)(3) organizations receive 20% off Starter and Pro. You self-certify your organization type at checkout — no application, paperwork, or approval wait. The discount applies immediately.

Can we run a silent auction without selling event tickets?

Yes. You can set ticket tiers to free (or remove them entirely) and run the auction as the standalone experience. Guests register for free access and bid on items. You can still enable the donation add-on alongside the auction.

Keep more auction proceeds for your mission.

No per-ticket fees on paid plans. No funds held by the platform. 20% nonprofit discount applied at checkout.
