Zapier Integration

Connect CompleteEvent to thousands of apps using Zapier. Trigger workflows on registrations, check-ins, payments, and more — or create registrations and send broadcasts from other apps.

Overview

The CompleteEvent Zapier integration lets you connect your events to thousands of other apps — CRMs, spreadsheets, email platforms, Slack, and more — without writing any code. Set up automated workflows that trigger when things happen in CompleteEvent, or create registrations and send broadcasts from other apps.

The integration is available on the Starter, Pro, and Enterprise plans. You need a Zapier account (free or paid) to use it.

Connecting Your Account

  1. In your CompleteEvent dashboard, go to Organization Settings → API Keys.
  2. Click Generate API Key, give it a name (e.g. "Zapier"), and copy the key. It is only shown once — store it somewhere safe.
  3. In Zapier, when prompted to connect a CompleteEvent account, paste the API key into the API Key field and click Yes, Continue.

Each API key is scoped to one organization. If you manage multiple organizations, generate a separate key for each and connect them as separate accounts in Zapier.

Triggers

Triggers start a Zap when something happens in CompleteEvent. All triggers require you to select which event to watch.

  • New Registration Confirmed — fires when an attendee completes registration (free or paid).
  • Registration Cancelled — fires when a registration is cancelled.
  • Registration Updated — fires when an attendee updates their registration details.
  • Registration Waitlisted — fires when an attendee is added to the waitlist (approval-gated events).
  • Registration Approved — fires when a waitlisted registration is approved.
  • Attendee Checked In — fires when an attendee is checked in via QR scan or manual check-in.
  • Payment Received — fires when a ticket payment is processed.
  • Refund Issued — fires when a refund is processed for a registration.
  • Abstract Submitted — fires when a speaker submits a CFP abstract.
  • Abstract Accepted — fires when an abstract is accepted.
  • Abstract Rejected — fires when an abstract is rejected.
  • Donation Received — fires when a donation is made.
  • Auction Bid Placed — fires when a bid is placed on a silent auction item.
  • Auction Item Paid — fires when an auction winner completes payment.
  • Session Signup — fires when an attendee adds a session to their personal schedule.
  • Event Published — fires when an event is published and goes live.
  • Survey Submitted — fires when an attendee submits a post-event survey.

Actions

Actions let Zapier do things in CompleteEvent based on triggers from other apps.

  • Create Registration — creates a confirmed registration for an attendee. Required fields: event, first name, last name, email. Optional: company, job title, ticket tier, and a send-confirmation flag that emails the attendee their ticket. The registration is created free of charge regardless of ticket pricing. No confirmation email is sent unless you enable it. Re-running the action for the same email and event returns the existing registration instead of creating a duplicate.
  • Cancel Registration — cancels an existing registration and frees the seat for the next waitlisted attendee. Identify the registration by ID, or by email + event.
  • Check In Attendee — marks an attendee as checked in. Identify by registration ID, or by email + event.
  • Send Broadcast — sends an email broadcast to all confirmed registrants of an event. Requires a subject and body.
  • Find Registration — searches for a registration by email and event. Returns registration details including confirmation code and check-in status.

Common Use Cases

  • Sync to a CRM: Use the New Registration Confirmed trigger to create or update a contact in HubSpot, Salesforce, or Airtable whenever someone registers.
  • Google Sheets log: Append a row to a spreadsheet for every new registration, check-in, or payment.
  • Slack notifications: Post a message to a Slack channel when an abstract is submitted or a large donation is received.
  • Email marketing: Add registrants to a Mailchimp or ConvertKit list when they register, and remove them if they cancel.
  • Create registrations from a form: Use a Typeform or Google Form as the trigger and Create Registration as the action to register people without them going through your event page.

Revoking Access

To disconnect Zapier, go to Organization Settings → API Keys and click Revoke next to the key. Any active Zaps using that key will stop working immediately. Generate a new key if you want to reconnect.

Rotating a key is different from revoking it. When you rotate a key, the old key keeps working for 24 hours so you have time to paste the new key into Zapier without downtime. After 24 hours the old key stops working.
