I spent years running event programs for nonprofits. Not just showing up to manage the day-of logistics, but building the infrastructure around them. Registration workflows, communication systems, internal tracking tools, volunteer coordination, session planning. The kind of operational work that doesn't have a clean job title but has to get done if the event is going to run right.
Over time, I watched that work handled two ways. The first was improvised: a registration form bolted onto an email system, session schedules living in a spreadsheet nobody could find the right version of, check-in lists printed the morning of the event. It worked until it didn't, and fixing the gaps ate time that should have gone into the program itself.
The second was enterprise software: a procurement process, an implementation engagement, dedicated training, and a contract that would make a small organization's board nervous. I went through that too, all the way through. The onboarding calls, the configuration, the go-live, the day-to-day of actually running events inside the platform. Those tools are capable. They are also built for organizations with a full-time events department and a dedicated admin. Not for the person managing this conference alongside everything else on their plate.
The gap between those two options never closed. You were either improvising or overbuying. Neither one was actually designed for the way most conference and association events get run.

Some of this is obvious. Some of it runs counter to how most platforms are built.
If you need five logins to run one event, the tools have failed you. Registration, check-in, sessions, email, and analytics should all live in one place. That is not a nice-to-have.
Per-ticket fees make sense for a marketplace. They make no sense for a registration platform. On paid plans, we charge a flat monthly fee. You keep what you earn.
You should be able to create a multi-track conference with a call for abstracts, waitlist, and QR check-in without reading a manual. Simple tools can do serious work.
