Platform Fees on Paid Tickets
When you process a paid transaction through CompleteEvent, a platform fee applies on each charge in addition to Stripe's standard payment processing fee (2.9% + $0.30 per transaction in the US). The platform fee depends on your plan:
- Free: 3% platform fee
- Starter: 1% platform fee
- Pro: 0.5% platform fee
- Enterprise: 0% platform fee
The platform fee is deducted as a pass-through at the moment of sale — it never appears as a separate charge to your attendees. Revenue flows directly into your connected Stripe account. CompleteEvent never holds your money.
Free tickets have no platform fee on any plan.
Free Plan Details
The Free plan is designed for organizers who are just getting started or running small, infrequent events. Key constraints to be aware of:
- 1 active event at a time — you can have one published event. Draft and archived events do not count. To create a new event when you already have one active, archive or delete the existing one first.
- 100 attendees per event — once 100 people have registered, the registration page shows as sold out. The waitlist still works on Free.
- 1 team member — only the account owner. To add co-organizers or staff, upgrade to Starter.
- 3% platform fee on paid transactions — upgrade to Starter or Pro to reduce this fee.
Upgrading Your Plan
- Go to Organization Settings → Billing.
- Click Upgrade plan.
- Select Starter or Pro and click Subscribe.
- You will be redirected to a Stripe-hosted payment page. Enter your card details and confirm.
- After payment, your new plan activates immediately.
Upgrades are prorated — if you upgrade mid-month, you are charged only for the remaining days in the billing cycle.
Annual billing is available and reduces the monthly cost. You can switch between monthly and annual billing at any time from Organization Settings → Billing.
Downgrading Your Plan
You can downgrade at any time from Organization Settings → Billing → Change plan. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period — you retain access to your current plan features until then.
Important: Before downgrading, check that your usage fits within the lower plan's limits. If you have more active events or team members than the lower plan allows, you will need to archive events and remove team members before the downgrade takes effect. CompleteEvent will show you a checklist of actions required before confirming the downgrade.
Cancelling Your Subscription
Cancelling your subscription reverts your organization to the Free plan at the end of the current billing period. Your data (events, registrations, attendees) is preserved — you do not lose any historical data. You just lose access to paid features.
To cancel, go to Organization Settings → Billing → Cancel subscription. You will be asked to confirm. The cancellation is processed by Stripe and takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
Billing Emails and Invoices
Monthly invoices are sent by Stripe to the billing email on your account. You can also download all past invoices from Organization Settings → Billing → Invoice history. Invoices are in PDF format and include your organization name and address if you have set them in your Stripe billing settings.
What Happens When You Hit a Plan Limit
If you reach your event or attendee limit, CompleteEvent will show a clear message explaining which limit has been reached and offering an upgrade path. Your existing events and registrations continue to work normally — plan limits only prevent creating new items.
- Event limit reached: You cannot publish a new event until you archive or delete an existing active event, or upgrade your plan.
- Attendee limit reached: The registration page for that event shows as sold out. The waitlist still works. Existing registrations are not affected.
Enterprise Plan
For organizations running large or frequent events, Enterprise offers a custom pricing arrangement with no platform fee, multiple org workspaces, a dedicated account manager, white-glove onboarding, invoice billing, and a custom contract. Contact hello@completeevent.app to discuss.
