The Attendee Experience
Everything attendees can access: the mobile event guide, personal schedule builder, certificate of attendance, and post-event survey.
What Attendees Experience
CompleteEvent is designed so attendees have a smooth, low-friction experience without needing to create an account. Everything they need — their QR code, the agenda, their personal schedule, the floor plan, and their certificate — is accessible through a unique link tied to their registration code. Attendees who download the free CompleteEvent app (iOS and Android) get additional benefits: push notifications for live announcements, access to the event feed in real time, and a bottom navigation bar that follows them through the event experience.
Registration Confirmation Email
Immediately after registering (or after a payment clears for paid tickets), attendees receive a confirmation email containing:
- Event name, date, time, and location.
- Their unique QR code — displayed inline in the email so they can save it to their camera roll, screenshot it, or show it directly at check-in.
- A link to their ticket page (
/ticket?c=CODE) — always shows their QR code even if they delete the original email. - A link to their personal schedule page (
/my-schedule?confirmation=CODE) — where they can browse sessions and build their agenda. - A link to the mobile event guide (
/guide) — the public session schedule, track listings, and venue info. - A .ics calendar attachment — clicking it adds the event to the attendee's calendar (Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook) with the correct timezone automatically applied.
- A link to their self-service portal where they can view their QR code, update their details, and request a cancellation — no login required.
Automated Reminder Emails
CompleteEvent sends automatic reminder emails at key points leading up to the event:
- 3 days before — logistics reminder with QR code link and venue details.
- 1 day before — final reminder to prepare and review their schedule.
- Morning of the event — quick nudge with their QR code and start time.
- 2 hours after the event ends — thank-you email with a post-event survey link.
All reminder emails include the .ics attachment so late-arriving calendar additions still work. Reminders are sent only if the event has a confirmed start date and time.
Confirmation emails are sent from events@completeevent.app with your organization's name in the “From” display field. If attendees do not receive the confirmation, ask them to check their spam folder and add events@completeevent.app to their contacts.
Mobile App Navigation
Attendees using the CompleteEvent app on iOS or Android see a bottom navigation bar when browsing an event. It contains four tabs:
- Schedule — the full session list and their personal schedule.
- Guide — the mobile event guide, including the floor plan and live feed.
- My Ticket — their QR code for check-in. After visiting the ticket page once, the app remembers their code and opens it directly every time.
- My Events — returns to the list of all their registered events.
The navigation bar is hidden during the registration and payment flow so it does not interrupt checkout.
Mobile Event Guide
The mobile event guide is a mobile-optimized web page at yourevent.completeevent.app/guide. It is publicly accessible — no login or code required — and contains everything an attendee needs on the day of the event:
- Full schedule — all published sessions with times, speakers, track labels, and room assignments. Filter by track to find relevant sessions quickly.
- Live session indicator — sessions currently in progress are highlighted in green so attendees always know what is on right now.
- Venue floor plan — if you have uploaded one, it is displayed as a zoomable image.
- Sponsor logos — if you have added sponsors to the event.
- Event information — venue address, WiFi details (if you add them), and any other information you include in the event description.
The guide URL is the same for all attendees. Attendees can bookmark it and refer to it throughout the event. Their personal QR code and session selections live on their individual ticket and schedule pages, both of which are linked from their confirmation email.
My Events — Optional Attendee Account
Attendees do not need to create an account to access their ticket, schedule, or guide. Everything is accessible through the links in their confirmation email using their unique confirmation code.
For attendees who register for multiple events, CompleteEvent offers an optional account at completeevent.app/my-events. After signing in with a one-time email code (no password required), the My Events page shows all events they have registered for across any organization, with quick links to each ticket and guide.
After registering, attendees are shown a prompt at the bottom of the confirmation page to optionally save their registration to an account. This is entirely optional — the primary confirmation email flow works regardless of whether they sign in.
Event Feed & Live Announcements
Organizers can post live updates and announcements to the event feed throughout the event. The feed appears in the CompleteEvent iOS app and gives attendees a real-time stream of messages — schedule changes, room swaps, reminders, or any other in-event communication.
Attendees with the iOS app installed receive push notifications when a broadcast message is sent. Attendees without the app receive the same message by email.
The event feed is available on Starter and Pro plans.
Personal Schedule Builder
Attendees at multi-session events can build their own personal schedule by selecting sessions they want to attend. Sessions can be favorited from:
- The public agenda page on the event registration site.
- The mobile event guide (
/guide). - The personal schedule page (
/my-schedule?confirmation=CODE).
The personal schedule shows only the attendee's selected sessions in chronological order, making it easy to see their day at a glance. Changes sync instantly across devices — if they favorite a session on their laptop and then check their phone, the phone view reflects the change.
Certificate of Attendance
If you have enabled certificates for your event, attendees can view their certificate at completeevent.app/[org]/[event]/certificate and enter their confirmation code to access it. From there they can download a PDF, add the credential to their LinkedIn profile, or print it.
The certificate includes:
- Attendee's full name
- Event name, date, and venue
- Organization name and logo
- Any custom title, intro phrase, or details paragraph the organizer has configured
- Signatory name, title, and signature image (if set by the organizer)
The Download PDF button generates a formatted PDF suitable for professional portfolios. The Add to LinkedIn button opens LinkedIn's credential flow pre-filled with the event details.
Eligibility: By default, certificates require check-in — an attendee who registered but was not scanned in cannot access one. Organizers can change this to “All registered attendees” in the certificate settings if check-in is not used at their event.
Post-Event Survey
If you have enabled the post-event survey, CompleteEvent sends a survey email to all checked-in attendees 24 hours after the event ends. The survey includes:
- An overall event rating (1–5 stars).
- Session ratings (1–5 stars with optional comment) for sessions in the schedule.
- An open-ended question: “What would you improve for next time?”
- Whether the attendee would recommend the event to a colleague (Net Promoter Score).
Survey responses are aggregated and visible in the Analytics tab under Session Ratings. The survey takes about 2 minutes to complete and is optimized for mobile. Response rates are typically 20–35% — higher if the event was engaging and the email is sent promptly.
Attendee Self-Service
Attendees can manage aspects of their own registration without contacting you:
- View their QR code and ticket — via the ticket link in their confirmation email (
/ticket?c=CODE). The ticket page also shows a “Manage registration” link for accessing their full self-service portal. - Build and update their personal schedule — via the my-schedule link (
/my-schedule?confirmation=CODE). - Access all their events — by signing in at
completeevent.app/attendee-loginwith a one-time email code. This link is also available at the top of the main login page atcompleteevent.app/login, so attendees who land there by mistake are directed to the right place. - Request data export or deletion — from the privacy page at
completeevent.app/privacy.
Cancellation requests currently need to be processed by you (the organizer) from the Registrations tab. If you want to allow self-service cancellation, you can include instructions in your broadcast emails directing attendees to email you.
